Area of Assistance and Assessed needs per outcome:
He is looking to learn more about how to live independently by completing daily living skills and working on his self-care routine. Daily living skills include doing the laundry, dishes, and other household chores. In terms of self-care, he needs assistance with creating and sticking to a routine hygiene schedule with showering and brushing his teeth. It is important to note that he is unsure at the moment what he desires to work on specifically, but his parents want him to have this opportunity to explore ways for him to become more independent.
Best ways to communicate with the individual:
It is best to communicate with him directly and clearly, and give him the space and time to grow comfortable. He has a history of shutting down or expressing his frustration verbally when asked to do something he does not want to do. At these times, it is best to give him space and come back to the activity at a later time.
