Once a month the support providers of Fairfield County gather together to learn, grow, and share ideas! Throughout 2023, we’re bringing you fresh ideas and perspectives from people across the state of Ohio.

February’s meeting will be presented by the team from Starfire Council on the topic of:

Social Patterns of Disability

One of the most powerful ways to learn about inclusive solutions is to notice the ways our culture and mindsets are shaped by the patterns we experience around disability. This session explores the current patterns of our society, systems and community and discusses how those patterns reinforce themselves, impact people with disabilities, their families, support workers and neighbors. We’ll also look at ways to create new patterns in our work that tell new stories about people with disabilities and community.

Starfire is a groundbreaking organization empowering leaders to build community and inclusion alongside people with developmental disabilities. We do this by increasing social connectivity through meaningful relationships and by working to remove barriers to opportunities in the community where people can be known for their gifts, not their disabilities.
